Give a section a background
Put any section on one of your colors, a gradient, or a photo under a shade that keeps the words readable, and give its bottom edge a curve or wave.
Open a section and choose Background. Pick one of your website’s colors or a gradient between two of them, and a bottom edge: straight, curve, angle or wave. Or add a background photo. A photo always sits under a shade, dark with white words or light with dark words, so the words stay readable on any photo.
Colors come from your palette, or your brand while it’s on, so a new palette recolors every section. If a background would make words in the section hard to read, it’s refused, and the message names the nearest color that reads.
To put a video behind a section, ask the assistant. It plays muted with a pause button, and visitors who turn off motion see a still photo.
For agents
A section’s color, gradient and edge are style keys on its section part: website_change setStyle {target, part: "section", style: {surface: paper|soft|accent|ink, gradient: paper-soft|soft-paper|soft-accent|accent-soft|accent-ink|ink-accent, edge: straight|curve|angle|wave}}. A photo or video is the section’s settings backdrop (an uploaded photo or HTTPS link), backdropVideo (an uploaded video or HTTPS link) and scrim (dark or light), set with update. A change that leaves words unreadable is refused with the nearest role that reads. Layout elements take surface, gradient and edge too, with setElementStyle.
